Warm weather brings plenty of sunshine and an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables for all to enjoy. Why not take advantage of the season and spoil your bird a bit with a few fresh, homemade treats? Fruity Parrot Pops are tasty, easy to make, and fun for your bird to eat. Best of all, they are high in vitamins and nutrients, and are a great way to make sure that your feathered friend has a balanced and varied diet.
Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 1 hour
Ingredients:
* Fresh Fruits * Nuts (optional) * Some of your bird's favorite seed (optional)
Preparation:
Blend all ingredients until they form a smooth paste. Pour the mixture into Popsicle molds or ice trays. Freeze the pops until they are solid. As an option, you can cover the trays with plastic wrap, and insert halved Popsicle sticks through the wrap and into the pops before freezing, to give your bird something to hang on to.
Any combination of bird safe fresh foods, nuts, and seeds can be used. My own bird likes grapes, green yellow or sweet red peppers, oranges, berries, bananas, mango, and papaya, almonds or peanuts. Experiment with adding different types of fresh foods to your mix, and try creating a variety of wild flavors for your bird. Don't be afraid to try a bold combination!
