Medicating through the water is always a guessing game since you never really know how much a bird will consume. You might want to "cautiously" cut back on the amount of wet foods (fresh fruits and vegetables), and increase the dry foods (breads, nuts, etc.), to encourage your bird to drink more. If he/she likes to dip her bread in water give her that first thing.
Note: Another important tip is to use only steamed distilled water when adding medicine. The water needs to be as pure as possible so there won't be any kind of reaction taking place between the minerals/etc. found in normal drinking water and the medication. Bottled water must be kept refrigerated once opened to prevent bacteria growth.
Talk to your veterinarian about the best way to medicate your bird that has any illness or condition that needs to be treated.
